 note = {2003年9月、｢沖縄・セルビア文化交流｣(空手・舞踊・音楽)が企画実施された。本稿では当該交流を機として、セルビアに根付いた沖縄の空手の現況に焦点をしぼり、論述を試みた。日本伝武道(柔道・剣道・空手道)の東欧や北欧への普及発展が本格的なものになったのは1970年代以降である。その後の30有余年の歳月の流れの中で、セルビアにおける沖縄空手道は着実に発展し、そしていま従前の姿とは異なった変容を遂げつつある。外来文化というのはいつまでも異文化としての形質を保持し続けるものではない。それは受け入れ先の国々の諸条件(思考様式・行動様式・生活様式・精神風土・身体的特性・自然環境等々)に即して改変され、それぞれの国の文化土壌の中に吸収され、民俗的特質をおびるようになる。いわゆる自民族中心主義(ethnocentrism)を発想源とする外来文化の自文化化作業(enculturation)である。それは、明治時代に受けた中国拳法の影響を排除しながら、大正・昭和戦前期を消化期間として、昭和戦後期の国際化と相俊って、沖縄独自の空手の体系(形質)をつくり上げたことと軌を一にするものである。セルビアに移入された沖縄空手道はセルビア人によって改変作業の手が加えられる時期を迎えつつある。21世紀の到来と共に、当該文化を担う人々の世代交替と共に、この作業は加速される筈である。こういう外来文化が自己の文化様式にあうように改変されるのは文化変容の必然的なものであり、異文化としての移入時の純度がいつまでも保持されるわけでではない。こういうことを念頭におきながら、本稿ではセルビアに移入された沖縄空手道がいかように存在しているのか、その現況を比較文化論的に論考した。先ず、セルビア共和国とその首都セルビア市の状況、セルビア人の人情の機微、反米感情、彼地で日本文化を宣揚してやまない外交官の存在等を論文本体の序論的なものとし論じた。本論の内容に通じるためには現在のセルビア事情に触れる必要があるからである。そして、文化交流、超流派の合同研究、流派感覚、外道論、セミナー、西洋の我執論と東洋(日本)の無我論、実力論、これから先もつべき日本人の国際感覚等々を論究した。, In September, 2003, a cultural exchange program (karate, dance, and music) was successfully carried out by two peoples: Japanese and Serbs. The writer of this paper was consequently induced by what he saw to discuss aspects of Okinawan karate, which was introduced into Serbia in the late 1960s. Since then karate there has been modified more or less to fit the Serbian physical constitution as well as to accommodate Serbian ways of thinking, acting, and living. Generally speaking, cultural transfiguration in foreign countries is based on ethnocentric enculturation. This kind of cultural change does not proceed by rapid strides, but rather in slow and steady steps over time. By way of introduction the writer provides information about Serbia and its people so that the reader is prepared for the main issues to be discussed later. The paper treats the following topics: a short history of Serbia the current social situation in Belgrade, antagonism against the USA, secrets in the subtleties of human feeling among the Serbian people, the difference in Western and Eastern mentalities, the seminar, rank and power, internationalization, and other matters. Conclusion: No culture is entirely free from ethnocentric enculturation after being imported into other countries overseas. Especially, a martial art like karate is destined to be transfigured. This cultural phenomenon is promoted by factors mentioned above. Some day in the future, Okinawan karate in Serbia will be independent from Okinawa just as Okinawan karate achieved its independence from Chinese influences. As is well known, history repeats itself. Transfiguration is unavoidable as long as the provider and the recipient of the culture concerned are heterogeneous.},
