Even in Social Studies and General Studies classes in secondary schools, field study classes have been held on the topic of the Battle of Okinawa. Though study periods have often been used in elementary schools to teach peace studies, there has not been enough material based on local resources about the Battle of Okinawa to be used in Social Studies classes.
