The building, equipped with advanced facilities including a planetarium, an elevator, and a science laboratory as well as lodging facilities, served as a comprehensive center of science and culture for children. It was also a precious platform to provide social education for children during a time when Okinawa was under U.S. control, and where the living and educational environment for children was inadequate and troubled juveniles were becoming a social problem.
