Moreover，the paper examines the causes of misuses which occur by omitting the auxiliary verbs “能”and“会.” The examination is done by means of comparing Japanese and Chinese expressions that represent potentiality. The causes of misuses that are brought about by misapplying the potential auxiliary verbs “能”and“会” are as follows: inappropriate explanation regarding the usage of “能”and“会”in popular grammar books，no mention of the relations with the VR structure. In addition，it is assumed that language teachers' handling of “能”and“会” is related to the causes of misuses. Three causes of misuses which occur by omitting the auxiliary verb “能”and“会”can be recognized as follows: 1. A complement 2. Expressions that indicate potentiality in the present and future　tenses 3. A main clause of conditional sentences In recognizing the actual situation of Chinese language education and teaching the usage of “能”and“会,”I refer to differences and similarities between Chinese and Japanese in order to overview the expressions that indicate potentiality in chapter 2. In chapter3，I refer to the causes of misuses that are brought about by misapplying the potential auxiliary verb “能”and“会” and propose a teaching meathod.
