Each hotel in Okinawa has serious concerns over obtaining relief from typhoons for hotel users. The researchers conducted a survey of hotel’s risk management system in Nago City. According to the survey, the hotels in Nago City give first priority to the safety of their guests. The lodging industry acknowledges they might be shorthanded at the time of disasters. The hotels in Nago City, however, take preventative measures against typhoons and are rarely shorthanded. This study also points to several recommendations for the hotels in Nago City. The following are some of the examples. The hotels might offer special room rates for guests who choose to extend their stays because of the typhoon and make the public aware of those options.
