As known so far, the cause of Okinawa migration was mainly regarded as military draft evasion to elude a government-imposed obligation rather than poverty alleviation. My this draft evasion theory is based on the fact that Okinawa is merely a province subordinated to Japan. However, Okinawa was a sovereign nation with its own independent culture. Therefore, it cannot be ignored that the some aspect of emigration syndrome is deeply associated with one kind of the refugee's aspect.
