The purpose of this paper is to examine the issue of access to fresh food in Okinawa from the medium- to the long-term perspective of the period 1972 to 2015.\n Method: This paper performed a two-stage analysis. The first analysis is to identify areas where access to fresh food in Naha city is currently inconvenient. Therefore, a Food Desert map was created and analyzed using a Geographic Information System (GIS). The second analysis used NTT's public telephone directory data to examine the evolution of number of stores over the period 1972 to 2015, handling fresh food.\n Results: As a result, it became clear that the area where a further response to food desert was still required in 2015 was the Shuri district. However, the location of fresh food stores in the Shuri area also revealed that the number of had supermarkets itself had increased.\n Discussion: This indicates that an increasing number of areas are available for the purchase of fresh food.
