Participants were 194 5th-grade elementary school students from two different schools who joined the “Okinawa Remote Islands Experience Activities Exchange Project” for two nights and three days. The questionnaire used in this study was developed by the author and consists of an evaluation scale for the program and for the level of understanding of remote islands. Participants answered the questionnaire twice, before and after the program.\n As for the results, factor analyses shows that there are four sub-scales: “independence,” “cooperation,” “interpersonal relationship skills,” and “self-control.” Additionally, average evaluation scale scores in all categories increased after the program.
