For instance, Okinawa came under the rule of the US military. In this particular circumstance, Okinawans resorted to mass-movements to try to remove US military bases. These movements on Okinawa were peaceful, well organized, well regulated and not radical. Such features are characteristics of political movements on Okinawa, and demonstrate the value of Okinawa's political movements during times of political struggle, war, and international conflicts.
