This paper has attempted to clarify current conditions in regions where numerous Japanese distributors are branching out and the response to their expansion. This research targeted Taiwan, a region where expansion by Japanese-owned firms is particularly marked. To that end, this paper has dealt with the problem from the perspective of \"standar dization strategy or adaptation strategy\". In conclusions, standardization is proceeding under the direction of the government in Taiwan, and policies to allow foreign-owned capital ready entry into markets are being introduced in the form of both accounting and distribution systems.
