Persian gardens uniquely symbolize the geographical location of the land: between the West and the East. The historical locus and the contributions of Persian design to both the East and the West have rarely been fully acknowledged. Of interest is what elements of the composition of Persian designs has been maintained and which has been discarded. A subset of these elements at different historical moments has been embrassed/ repelled.
