| 内容記述 | We complete a full implementation of an open source student information system in our medium-sized university and evaluate its suitability. We further evaluate features and user interfaces for three classes of user, students, instructors and office staff, and draw conclusions on the range of features and their ease of use. Students can log in to view their lesson schedule on a daily, weekly or monthly basis. This shows the lessons they are registered for, and a view of the daily lessonplans published by the instructors (through simple entry in a browser window). Calendar-views include university events, and students can add personal entries to their own calendars, sharing this with chosen friends. Students can securely view on one screen their daily class-attendance record and mid-term test results for all of their subjects, as soon as the instructor has entered the data. Instructors can keep online attendance and test records, and have the ability to add or remove students from class lists, which will greatly alleviate both confusion and office paperwork during the start of term class-registration period. At the end of term, they have the choice of either manually entering final grades, or alternatively using an automatic grade calculation based on mid-term and final test results. This can even be over-ridden on a student-by-student basis, while keeping a permanent record of the reasons for that decision. Weekly public online lesson notes can be used to publish the class syllabus, while private class notes can also be attached to each lesson. Office staff can be given the authority to add or remove students from class lists, and view individual student timetables, monthly attendance records and grades. Altogether this should result in a decrease in the office workload and an increase in efficiency. | |||||

| 内容記述 | オープンソース学生情報管理システムSchoolToolの導入シミュレーションを行う。2008年度の学生・先生・授業・授業登録リスト・時間割情報のデータをシステムに登録し、3種類のユーザ(学生、先生、教務課の職員)の視点からシステムの特徴やユーザインタフェース(UI)等のシステム適性、機能や使いやすさを調査し、評価する。調査の手法は、今回時間の都合でアンケートを含まない著者の解析に基づく。関連の評価方法はGUIや機能の欠点を一覧で示す形になる。学生がログインすると日・週・月の単位で時間割が表示され、登録した授業の授業内容や連絡事項及び大学イベントが閲覧できる。個人入力も可能し、各自のスケジュールを友人と共有することができる。一目で自分の出席記録や中間テスト結果、レポート評価、最終評価などの確認ができる。教員は出席や中間テストなどの評価をウェッブ・ブラウザで管理ができる。教員自ら学生を授業一覧に追加したり削除したりすることが可能になるため、登録調整期間中の混乱が回避される。学期末の評価はブラウザーで入力ができ、またそれまでの宿題や課題の評価に基づいて自動評価もできる。評価を変更した場合、備考欄にはその理由を正確に残すこともできる。授業シラバスや一日当たりのプランを公開しながら、個人用の教案やメモなども記載できる。 | |||||
