| 内容記述 | 本研究では，指導者の支配欲という観点に着目して，指導者がなぜ，体罰をふるうのかを考察した。エーリッヒ・フロムの権威論を参考とし，特に，サディズムに関するフロムの所論を援用した。フロムはサディズム的傾向として，他人を絶対的に支配して搾取し，自己に依存させて道具とする点をあげていた。本研究では，運動部活動の指導者を取り巻く苛酷な勤務環境が，指導者によるサディズム的傾向の合理化を促進する点が示された。サディズム的傾向は，孤立した個人が独り立ちできない無能力と，孤独を克服するために共棲的関係を求める要求とから生じるとフロムは指摘していた。サディズム的傾向を持つ指導者は，強者であることの意識を持つために生徒の自由と独立を阻止し，支配しようとする。体罰は生徒を支配するための有効な手段となる。運動部活動における指導者のサディズム的傾向は，独り立ちできない無能力と，孤独を克服するために生徒と共棲的関係を求める要求から生じている点が示唆された。さらには，「権威主義的性格」を持つ部員から軽蔑・憎悪の対象となることを避けるために，体罰をふるうことによって指導者が権威を強化しようとする点が示された。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | This study examines why instructors use corporal punishment, and it focuses on an instructor’s desire to dominate. It references Erich Fromm’s Authority Theory and invokes Fromm’s opinion on sadism, in particular. As an example of sadistic tendency, Fromm mentions the idea of absolute control over another person to exploit them, create dependency, and use them as a tool. The results of the present study suggest that a harsh work environment involving the instructor of an extracurricular sports club promote the rationalization of sadistic tendencies by the instructor. Fromm points out that sadistic tendency arise from the incapacity to function as an isolated individual and the need to form a symbiotic relationship to overcome isolation. Instructors that exhibit sadistic tendencies inhibit the freedom and independence of their students and attempt to dominate them in order to feel strong. Corporal punishment is an effective means of dominating students. The sadistic tendencies of an instructor in an extracurricular sports club are suggested to arise from the need to form a symbiotic relationship with students in order to overcome isolation and the incapacity to function on one’s own. In addition, this study also showed that an instructor uses corporal punishment to strengthen his authority to avoid becoming the target of contempt/animosity from members of the club with an “authoritarian character.” | |||||
