| 内容記述 | 日本に比べ、成果をあげていると評価され、英語教育関係者からも注目され始めた韓国の英語教育であるが、その要因として、教育課程の変更や小学校での英語の必修化の他に、国民の間に広がる英語教育熱が挙げられる。その英語教育への熱心さから最近生み出されたものが｢英語村｣である。｢英語村｣とはどのようなものなのか。筆者は実際に韓国の｢英語村｣を訪問した体験を基に、さらなる資料を加え、その目的や背景、活動内容などを調査した。本論文では｢英語村｣を切り口にして韓国の英語教育について考察する。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | The author considers English education in South Korea through a review of the "English Village" project in this paper. The English education system in South Korea overall has shown better results than that of Japan, one striking example of this being South Koreans consistently receiving higher scores than Japanese do on the TOEFL. The author believes that the Korean people's eagerness to learn English is one of the primary factors which accounts for their better performance in the language. Other factors may include their revised curriculum and the beginning of English instruction at a younger age. The new "English Village" project may now be an additional factor. Due to the keen desire of Koreans to learn English, the "English Village" project was established. The following paper is a review of this project, including an investigation into its background, objectives, activities, etc. based on the author's actual experience visiting one of these villages in South Korea. | |||||
