| 内容記述 | 海岸の防災と自然に関する住民の意識を明らかにすることを目的に，沖縄島ヤンバル海岸地域61字において区長にアンケート調査を実施した。半数以上の地域が高波などによる被害を受けており，約６割が護岸工事を必要と回答した。くらしにとって重要な事項を尋ねたところ，高波などによる被害が多い地域では、防災対策を重視する一方で，市街地の住民以上に自然を守ることが「重要である」と考えていることが示された。回答者の多くは、自分の住む地域の景色の良い海辺は自然が残された場所であると感じており、そうした海辺の自然に価値を感じていた。一方，自然が良く残された景色の良い場所として挙げられた海岸の実態を調査すると，18か所中自然海岸は６か所だけで，他は一部に人工が加えられた半自然海岸であった。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | A questionnaire survey was conducted on the 61 sections in the Yanbaru coastal area of Okinawa Island for the purpose of revealing consciousness of residents concerning disaster prevention and nature of the coast. More than half of the sections have been damaged by high waves, and about 60% responded that shore protection works were necessary. Residents in sections with frequent damages caused by high waves consider the importance of nature conservation more than the residents of urban areas, while emphasizing disaster prevention measures. Many residents feel that the scenic seaside of the area where they live is the place where nature has been conserved, and also feel the value of such seaside nature. On the other hand, the 18 coasts that the residents considered as the places with good scenery and conserved nature were investigated, and only 6 of them were found to be natural coasts, while the others semi natural coasts. | |||||
