| 内容記述 | 都市化は、まぎれもなく現代の社会変動の重要な一環である。しかし、科学的タームとして都市化を定義することになると、日常用語としてのイメージが混入することもあって、明確さに欠けるばあいがでてくるのである。小論においては、K.デイビスの都市化は総人口に占める都市部人口の割合(都市化率)でもって測られる現象であり、その割合の上昇傾向が都市化であるとする立場と、L. ワースのアーバニズム(都市的生活様式)の進展をもって都市化とする考え方の2つのモデルを手がかりに、都市化の概念規定に関する問題点を明らかにし、都市化なる現象の理解に資することを目的とする。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | Urbanization is, no doubt, an important phase of today's social changes. When we try to define "urbanization" as a scientific term, however, we come into problems, partly due to the fact that "urbanization" has become a popular word of daily conversation, leading to a rather hazy concept. In this paper, following two models of urbanization, one by K. Davis who uses the term "urbanization" as referring to "the proportion of the total population concentrated in urban settlements, or else to a rise in this proportion," and another by L. Wirth who takes urbanization as the development of "urbanism", leading to a Gesellschaft-like community, we try to analyze problems related to the concept of urbanization. In so doing, we expect to come to a better understanding of the phenomenon called urbanization. | |||||
