| 内容記述 | 沖縄少年会館は, 1966年に建設された。同館は,沖縄教職員会や教育関係者による全国規模の募金運動により実現した。沖縄少年会館は,プラネタリウム,エレベーター,科学実験室等の近代的な設備と宿泊施設を有した子どもの総合科学文化会館としての性格をもち,当時の沖縄では社会教育施設としても貴重な存在であった。アメリカ統治下の沖縄では,子どもの生活・教育環境は劣悪であり,子どもの"荒れ"が社会問題化していた。こうした状況の中で,沖縄少年会館は,子どもの健全育成を目的に建設されたのである。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | The Okinawa Shonen Kaikan was constructed in 1966, through a nationwide fund-raising campaign led by the Okinawa Teachers' Association and those involved in education. The building, equipped with advanced facilities including a planetarium, an elevator, and a science laboratory as well as lodging facilities, served as a comprehensive center of science and culture for children. It was also a precious platform to provide social education for children during a time when Okinawa was under U.S. control, and where the living and educational environment for children was inadequate and troubled juveniles were becoming a social problem. Under such circumstances, the Okinawa Shonen Kaikan was built to support the sound growth of boys and girls. | |||||
